Family sledding hills near Sunriver

One of the most commonly asked questions we get in the winter is, “Where should we go sledding near Sunriver?” Sledding is an affordable, family-friendly way to experience the outdoors in Central Oregon (and to reconnect with your inner child). Sunriver boasts a great location near great Central Oregon sledding hills. From sliding down the sledding hill at Drake Park to pulling out the old toboggan at Wanoga Sno-Park, your group will love visiting some of Central Oregon’s favorite sledding locales.

Where to go Sledding Near Sunriver

Wanoga Sno Park — Located 15 miles west of Bend and 20 miles northwest of Sunriver on Cascade Lakes Highway. We love Wanoga for many of our favorite winter activities, including sledding, fat biking, nordic skiing, snowmobile trails and more. Wanoga is great for families — you’ll love visiting the old fashioned sledding hill for sledding and tubing near Sunriver. A Sno-Park permit is required November 1 – April 30.

Sledding at Drake Park  — If you happen to be in Bend when the need to go sledding calls, Drake Park is the most central place to go sledding in town. There is a hill on the east end of Drake Park, adjacent to the Mirror Pond Parking Area off of Franklin Avenue, where locals and visitors alike gather for in-town sledding. Dress the kids up in layers, grab a sled and head downtown!

Hollinshead and Al Moody Parks in Bend also have small sledding hills within city limits.

Where to Rent Sleds in Sunriver

Depending on the crowd, the word sleds could mean the tobbogans of your youth, or in more adventurous circles, snowmobiles. Today, we’re talking about the sleds of our youth, which can be purchased or rented in Sunriver.

Good2Go — This summer and winter adventure rentals shop has the largest selection of sleds, toboggans, snowshoes, and so much more. Good2Go is an easy choice when you want to rent sleds in Sunriver. Choose from the classic metal and wood sleds, a winter classic, toboggans, foam sleds or racer sleds. The incredible inventory of sleds means you can try something new and rent your old favorite.

Sunriver Toy House — If an inflatable tube is more your speed, head over to Sunriver Toy House, which also has traditional sleds available. Sunriver Toy House offers online reservations for single and double tubes, toboggans and sleds with helmets. Don’t forget the helmet!

Enjoy a Winter Wonderland

One of the best parts about spending time in Sunriver during the winter is the access to easy sledding hills. Sledding brings out some of our fondest childhood memories, while helping to create new traditions with our own families – whoever they may include.
