Technically, this first one and a couple of the other events don’t take place in “fall” proper, but for the sake of this blog, let’s call all of September fall, not just the last third of the month. The Sunriver Marathon for a Cause winds through our beloved resort town and features stunning mountain and river views. The race itself benefits St. Charles Cancer Center, which keeps funds in the local community and helps individuals going through cancer treatment. Choose from the half marathon, 10K, 5K or Kid’s Dash. Cap off your summer and bring in fall feeling good both inside and out.
Team Cup Challenge

Love tennis? The Team Cup Challenge is a NTRP team tournament that takes place in Sunriver every year. Teams can include five or six players and matches consist of one singles and two doubles. Each team is guaranteed three team matches throughout the tournament. The event also includes two parties — a Friday night social at the Village Bar and Grill, as well as a Saturday night dinner and dance party at the SHARC. Entry includes court times for all matches, fresh fruit, water, coffee, the Saturday night dinner and dance. Prizes awarded to the winning and runner-up teams.

Wine, cheese and chocolate — need we say more? Enjoy Uncorked Sunriver Style, a two-day wine festival featuring Oregon wines, cheese, chocolates and live music. The event takes places at SHARC and features live music from Dancehall Days on Friday and live music from Juju Eyeball and Gbots & The Journeymen on Saturday. Local vendors will also be on-site with food and gifts for sale. Indulge in the decadence while the sun shines.

This one may be a little tougher to make, as it takes place on a Wednesday night, but will no doubt be worth the trip. The Head and The Heart close out concert season at the Les Schwab Amphitheater with support from Oregon favorites Blind Pilot. Enjoy an evening of folk-inspired rock and roll along the banks of the Deschutes River. Upbeat, edgy and the kind of music you’ll have a hard time not singing along to, don’t miss The Head and The Heart live in Bend.

A fundraiser for the Downtown Bend Business Association, Bend Oktoberfest has become a favorite festival among visitors and locals. At the heart of the festival, the beer. Taste beers at three different tents from local breweries including Deschutes Brewery, Boneyard Beer, Silver Moon Brewing, 10 Barrel, Good Life Brewing, and Three Creeks Brewing Company. Taste German foods (brats and pretzels included!), listen to Oompah music, play in the family fun zone, challenge friends during the tricycle races, sing in the yodeling contest and watch Oktoberfest’s most popular event – the Weiner Dog Races!

If you love music, we highly encourage you to come to town during Bend Roots Revival weekend. The annual music festival features more than 100 bands over the course of three days, It’s a one-of-a-kind block party featuring live music, yoga, craft beer, food and educational workshops. The annual festival benefits the non-profit’s music education missions and programs throughout the year. The festival includes music on seven stages between the Art Station and the Deschutes Brewery warehouse.
