drive-in movies bend oregon

As we look upon Sunriver this summer, we see people who feel so relieved to be here. We wanted to thank everyone for practicing social distancing and wearing masks in Sunriver. Together, we’re able to stay open and your efforts are greatly appreciated. Usually, we write a few blogs about things to do in Sunriver during the summer months, but with many events canceled, it’s not as long of a list. We have dug around and found a few socially distanced, outdoor events in Central Oregon this August.

Outdoor Events in Central Oregon – August 2020

BendFilm Pop Up Drive-In

Nothing says summer nostalgia like packing up the family and heading to the drive-in movie theater. BendFilm brings the drive-in to Deschutes Brewery this summer for physical distancing under the stars. Films range from throwback classics to blockbusters and more. Many of the films will also be accompanied by a short movie before the feature.

Where: Corner of Shevlin-Hixon Rd. and Columbia next to the Deschutes Brewery Warehouse

Dates: Now through August 29, 2020

Time: Parking lot opens at 7pm. Arrive by 8pm to park before the film starts at dusk (roughly 8:30pm)

Purchase tickets online and have them on your phone to show staff upon entering the parking lot. Sound for the films is streamed through your car radio and the FM frequency will be shared on your ticket or when you enter the lot. Knowing the series is put on by BendFilm means you can expect high-quality picture quality with a screen that is backlit.

Each vehicle that is 21+ receives a complimentary can of Deschutes Brewery beer. Beer will be available for sale and Dump City Dumplings will be on-site serving delicious treats. Remember to practice physical distancing and stay in or next to your vehicle during the film. If you need to walk to the restroom or purchase concessions, please wear a mask.

Thank You for Social Distancing

It truly means a lot to Sunriver and the local Central Oregon communities that our visitors are wearing masks and social distancing. This summer is one we won’t soon forget and hopefully Central Oregon events like the BendFilm Pop Up Drive-In and live music make it feel a little more “normal”. We look forward to seeing you in Sunriver — from 6-feet away, of course!
