Many of our guests plan their Sunriver winter vacations around visiting Mt. Bachelor for the miles of skiable terrain. Whether you prefer one or two boards strapped to your feet, Mt. Bachelor offers memorable and exciting winter adventures year after year, but have you visited this majestic beauty during the summer? The fun at Mt. Bachelor has only just begun when the ski lifts close for the winter season. The summer season at Mt. Bachelor includes world-class downhill mountain bike riding as well as stunning sunset dinners in the Pine Marten Lodge.
Mt. Bachelor Summer Activities
Mountain Biking at Mt. Bachelor
The Mt. Bachelor Bike Park offers lift-served access to 13 miles of downhill oriented trails. The Sunshine Accelerator lift allows for a great introduction to the Bike Park for all ability levels. More advanced riders can head to Pine Marten Express where a combination of machine built and single-track trails amp up the adrenaline for intermediate to advanced double black diamond trails.
Didn’t bring a mountain bike to Sunriver? Mt. Bachelor has a fleet of Norco rental bikes, which includes downhill and enduro bikes, trail and fat bikes, as well as youth bikes. Speaking of kids, if you want your young rider to advance their mountain biking skills, consider sending them to Gravity Bike Camp — week-long summer camps offered for kids and teens through July and August.
Would you rather take in the stunning views of the Cascade Mountains with a glass of vino in hand instead of charging down the mountain on a bike? Mt. Bachelor offers scenic chair lift rides throughout the summer and guests have the opportunity to dine during the Sunset Dinner series at the Pine Marten Lodge. Imagine stepping out onto the deck as the sun sets over the Cascade Range. You’ll love tasting globally inspired cuisine with a different theme each weekend. Pair your meal with tasting from local breweries, wineries, and distilleries from 7,800 feet.
Summer 2019 brings Sunset Dinners to guests four nights a week, Thursday through Sunday in July and August. Reservations are required and can be made starting in May by calling 541-382-1709.
The Disc Golf Course at Mt. Bachelor is listed as a PDGA course. Ride the Pine Marten chairlift up to the first hole and then work your way down the mountain to the final hole. Disc Golf at Mt. Bachelor challenges competitors with higher elevation and variable terrain. To ride the chairlift up to the first hole requires a lift ticket or pass. If you decide to hike from the base to the start zone, no lift ticket is required.
It’s not too late to enjoy spring skiing and snowboarding at Mt. Bachelor before summer operations begin. The Sunchaser Spring runs through Memorial Day weekend and includes access to 2,000 acres of terrain from the West Village base area. Don’t miss 10 Barrel’s Snow Beach weekends and the big finale weekend at the end of May!
