BendFilm Festival

Located for 20 minutes away in Bend, the annual BendFilm Festival takes place each October. BendFilm celebrates independent cinema in a festival setting. In addition to independent film screenings from filmmakers from all over the world, you can also enjoy parties, workshops and discussions with active members in the film industry. Each October, many people descend on Bend to take advantage of this cultural opportunity that includes narrative and documentary films, as well as independent shorts.

Sunriver Stars Community Theater
The Secret Garden

You don’t have to travel far to enjoy community theater. Each season the Sunriver Stars Community Theater puts on a play at The Door in Sunriver. This season, the group adapts “The Secret Garden” for the stage. For those not familiar, “The Secret Garden” tells the story of Mary Lennox, a spoiled only child raised in India, but sent to live in her uncle’s home in Yorkshire after her parent’s death. Sunriver Stars presents an upbeat adaptation of the 1911 novel for the start of their 2018 season.

Artists Gallery Sunriver

Do you appreciate fine art? You need only venture down to the Village Mall to view art by more than 30 local artists. In addition to art on display, Artists Gallery Sunriver also offers Sip & Paint classes where you recreate the evening’s painting and enjoy complimentary wine and chocolate. The Second Saturday Party with the Artists includes art on display from the 30 resident artists, as well as beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres. Enjoy light appetizers and mingle with some of the talented artists that come to us from all over Central Oregon.

High Desert Museum

In addition to permanent indoor and outdoor exhibits, the High Desert Museum, which celebrates 35 years, features a variety of changing exhibits. Capturing Time: Celebrating 35 Years of the High Desert Museum runs through January 7, 2018, and showcases the history of the museum itself. Innovation Lab: Design Inspired by Nature runs until February 17, 2018 and the Dinosaurs Take Flight: The Art of Archaeopteryx opens on October 14 and runs through April 1, 2018. The High Desert Museum gives visitors a preview into Central Oregon culture throughout time. With special events like the upcoming Harvest Festival, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at the Museum.

Sunriver Music Festival

The annual music festival, which takes place each August in Bend and Sunriver, brings classical music to the community through the Fireside Series concert and events from September through March each year. The next Fireside event features rock violinist Aaron Meyer at the Sunriver Resort Homestead on December 1, 2017 at 6:30pm. Meyers has a seemingly effortless mastery of the instrument, engaging audiences with cutting edge arrangement of timeless classics.
