At Sunset Lodging, we’re pleased to announce that the Deschutes County Commissioners have decided not to extend short-term rental restrictions in our area, which means beginning Friday, May 15 visitors may return to Sunriver. We have been tending to our Sunriver rentals during this time and have revamped our housekeeping and check-in procedures to adhere to CDC guidelines and to provide a clean and safe environment for our guests and the locals who live in Sunriver year-round.

What You Need to Know

We hope you will consider visiting Sunriver soon, including this summer. We know things will look different this summer, but we’re excited to welcome you and your guests to the community. If you canceled a reservation due to COVID-19 concerns, we would love you to consider rebooking with us now that you can travel to Sunriver. If you rebook, we will credit any cancelation fees to your we charged to your new reservation (canceled after March 15th, 2020).

Cleaning and Safety Practices

Sunset Lodging has updated our cleaning practices to ensure a safe environment for our guests. Our cleaning practices include:

  • Follow the CDC Guidelines
  • We use a COVID-19 Certified Disinfectant
  • Enhanced Cleaning Routines, Including Special Attention to High-Touch Areas
  • Housekeeping Staff to Utilize PPE for Cleaning, Hand sanitizer Provided for Continuous Use Throughout the Day
  • Daily Temperature Testing of Staff Members

We have changed our arrival and departure times effective immediately to allow more time for proper sanitizing of all areas of the homes. When possible, we are allowing homes to sit vacant longer after the previous guest checks out before sending in our housekeepers.

  • Effective immediately, check-in time is now 5:00 pm, effective until September 15th
  • Effective immediately, check-out time is now 10:00 am, effective until September 15th

It’s essential to prevent a new outbreak of COVID-19. By welcoming guests to Sunriver, we run the risk of having the community shut down once again. We need everyone’s help in taking every possible precaution to avoid this from happening.

Social Distancing and Safety Practices

We ask all guests coming to Sunriver to recognize that failure to follow the CDC guidelines will not only jeopardize your safety, but will also jeopardize local owners in our community as well as our ability to stay open this summer. When you come to Sunriver, please practice all of the social distancing recommendations and CDC recommended safety guidelines.

We would also like to ask you to be respectful of some of our local stores who have requested that only one member of each family go in to do their shopping. We must all be mindful of these changes and with your help, we can keep Sunriver open for the summer for other families to come and enjoy a break from everything that is going on out there.

What’s Open in Sunriver

Currently, a number of local restaurants are doing take out and/or delivery, the grocery stores are open and we have over 30 miles of paved bike trails to explore! A number of Central Oregon Golf courses are open and there are many outdoor adventures awaiting you (social distancing at its FINEST). The SHARC facility is closed and at this time we do not know when it will be opening. Due to COVID social distancing guidelines, we are not sure what restrictions may be made for Oregon public pools. We will keep guests updated as soon as we have more information.

    Pools opening?

    • Reservations at Sunset Lodging

      Hi Nicole,

At this time we are uncertain about when swimming pools will be able to reopen. As an alternative, there is a wide array of lakes and rivers nearby for swimming and water recreation. We’ve got our fingers crossed and will update our blog and social media when we have more information from the local swimming pools.

      Thank you!

Will the river be open to floating?

    • Scott Pence

      Jason,

We have been seeing a LOT of people floating the river on Kayaks and other things of that nature. I have to cross the river to get to my house so that is why I have been seeing them. The rivers open for trout fishing this weekend and we have not seen anything that would lead us to believe they are closed for the trout fishing opener.

That said, the rivers are open as far as we know.
