Christmas Vacation in Sunriver

We spend a good amount of time in the fall preparing for Christmas vacation in Sunriver, readying our homes for a lifetime of memories to be created among visiting families. We’re ready for the snow and Christmas camaraderie, now we wait for the calendar to hit December 25 and for all of our visitors to arrive for Christmas vacation. The week between Christmas and New Year’s Day is one of the busiest times of the year in Sunriver and visitors can look forward to a wide array of events and activities to make their visit a memorable one.

By this point, you’ve already found the perfect house to be your home base between runs at Mt. Bachelor. Now, you just have to plan what all you would like to do with your family in Sunriver over the holiday week. You’re in luck — we’ve searched the community in order to find you the best events and activities to fill your time during winter break 2018.

Events During Christmas Vacation in Sunriver

Ski with Santa — Without a doubt, skiing and snowboarding at Mt. Bachelor draw in the biggest crowds during Christmas vacation in Sunriver. If you’re planning on arriving before Christmas, head up to Mt. Bachelor and witness Santa Claus skiing on the slopes, spreading holiday cheer on Sunday, December 23 and Monday, December 24.

Traditions at Sunriver Resort — This annual celebration of the season includes events throughout December, including elf tucks and brunch with Santa. After Christmas, you can still view the creative gingerbread houses on display at the Resort’s annual Gingerbread Junction showcase. The Resort also has a New Year’s Eve Party and Dinner planned, as well as New Year’s Day brunch.

Family Aerial Yoga — Our friends next door at Downward Dog Yoga, located in the Sunriver Business Park, will be offering a Family Aerial Yoga class from 12-1pm on Saturday, December 29. The yoga studio also has regularly scheduled classes and meditation available throughout the week to help you easily manage your holiday vacation.

Paint With Me — Live Laugh Love Art, located in The Village at Sunriver, hosts a weekly painting class to promote the many health benefits of painting. Relieve the stress and anxiety of the holiday season by painting a masterpiece with friends and family. This class will be offered on Wednesday, December 26 from 10-11am.

Storm Large Holiday Ordeal — Storm Large first debuted as a guest vocalist with the band Pink Martini in April 2011. This holiday spectacular includes music, gags, gifts and special guests. Extend your holiday season with a fine evening of music and merriment at the Tower Theatre in Bend on Friday, December 28 and Saturday, December 29.

The Great Outdoors at Your Front Door — Take advantage of the great outdoors when you arrive in Sunriver for your Christmas vacation. Head up to Mt. Bachelor for skiing and snowboarding. Visit Virginia Meissner Sno Park for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The area includes a variety of winter outdoor recreation areas and tour companies to host your family. Participate in a moonlit snowshoe tour with Wanderlust Tours or get a bird’s eye view of the area with Big Mountain Heli Tours. Rent snow bikes from Cascade Snow Bike. The options for outdoor recreation and entertainment are endless in Central Oregon.
