We’ve got snow on the ground, lights in the trees and now all we need is you and your loved ones in Sunriver for the winter holiday season! Many families and groups of loved ones have descended upon Sunriver, making a visit to our snowy town a Christmas tradition itself. Year after year, we have guests return to continue their Christmas traditions from warm couches in living rooms heated by gorgeous fireplaces. Some might say that Sunriver inspired the original snow globe, but that would definitely be an over exaggeration, but believable!
What to do in Sunriver on Christmas Day, 2022
It looks like if you want to catch Santa before his long night of gift delivery, you’ll have to bring the family to Mt. Bachelor on Christmas Eve. Santa always likes to shred fresh pow before sitting in a sleigh all night, which means you and the kiddos are in luck this holiday season!

The Lodge at Sunriver Resort
Looking for a traditional Christmas dinner with none of the meal prep time? Sunriver Resort has reservations available for Christmas dinner at The Lodge. Sit back, relax and enjoy an elegant meal featuring traditional holiday fare.
It looks like if you want to leave your vacation rental on Christmas Day your best bets will be to venture outside. We recommend cross-country skiing at Virginia Meissner Sno-Park or sledding at Edison Sno-Park.
Drive Safe and Merry Christmas!
The weather forecast coming from Portland over the passes to see us, shows very wintery conditions ahead, which means you need to be prepared before hitting the road. We can’t wait to see you and welcome your family to Sunriver, but urge you to use caution when driving over the mountain passes to Sunriver. Drive a little slower, give the driver in front of you a little more space and we’ll all be able to celebrate the season together in Sunriver.
Thank you for your support this year and every year – Merry Christmas from all of us at Sunset Lodging in Sunriver!
